A non-profit organization, The Financial Seminary has a purpose of “transforming hearts, souls, and minds over money.” The Financial Seminary does this by reintegration of spirit and ethics, regardless of religious orientation, into political-economy and personal finances.

Gary Moore has a political science degree from the University of Kentucky. He served as an artillery officer in the Army before becoming a senior vice-president of investments at Paine Webber in the 1980s. Gary considered attending seminary. He soon believed, however, that seminaries appear to no longer teach about the moral dimensions of managing this world’s wealth, despite such moral dimensions being often addressed by Moses, Jesus, and the church fathers.
Gary began an informal study regarding management of world wealth and later founded The Financial Seminary to build bridges between the financial and moral communities. He also founded his own investment firm, Gary Moore & Company, to serve as “counsel to ethical and spiritual investors.” As a result, he has advised some of America’s most well-known ministries, churches, banks, and individual investors. He has also authored many articles about integrating religion, or spirituality, and ethics with personal financial management and political economy.
Gary has served in the following capacities: as a trustee of Robert Schuller’s Crystal Cathedral, chairing the church’s endowment committee; as a trustee on the investment committee of Messiah College; as a board member of the John Templeton Foundation; as a board advisor to Bill Bennett and Jack Kemp in Enpower America; as a lay leader of both Lutheran and the Episcopal churches; and as a financial commentator for UPI Radio and Skylight Radio Network.
Gary’s writings have appeared in Forbes, Money, Business Week, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Bottom Line, Christianity Today, Moody, The National Religious Broadcasters’ Magazine, and in many newspapers, including the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and the Christian Science Monitor.
Gary and his now deceased wife, Sherry, were knighted by the ancient Order of St. John, Knights Hospitaller, primarily for their work in Uganda among orphans with AIDS. Gary and Sherry’s son, Garrett, was also made a squire in the Order.
Gary and his family reside in Bradenton, Florida.
